Hurricane & Disaster Preparedness, Are you ready with a disaster plan?

The hurricane season begins June 1 and continues through Nov. 30.

Hurricane Disaster and Preparedness is important! We are now in season. Here are a few tips and links to help make sure you are ready. 

Remember Hurricanes are unpredictable. It is better to have a plan of action in place and not need it than to need a plan and not have one. 

The links below are packed with all the information you need to know to prepare in case a major storm strikes our area. These are excellent resources for important information about emergency services, shelters, evacuation routes, pet survival, insurance issues and much more.

1. Check the weather before you travel. 

2. Have a generator and stock some basic supplies in your home in the event of a long term power outage. 

3. Know or have on hand access to the best evacuation plan for your immediate area. 

4. Know of at least two storm shelters in your area. 

5. Have a family connection/meeting place plan in place in the event of separation. 

6. Have a plan for your pets.
